This article provides detailed information on the cases where doctors can be suspended in Vietnam, based on current legal regulations, helping you understand the standards and responsibilities in the medical field.

According to Article 34 Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2023 Regulations on suspension from practice are as follows:

“1. Practitioners are suspended from practicing in the following cases:

a) The Professional Council specified in Article 101 of this Law determines that there are professional and technical errors to the extent of having to suspend practice but not to the extent of having the practice license revoked;

b) Concluded by a competent authority that there is a violation of professional ethics but not to the extent that the practice license must be revoked;

c) Not healthy enough to practice.

2. Depending on the nature and extent of professional and technical errors, violations of professional ethics, and health status, the practitioner will be suspended from practice for a period of 01 month to 24 months.

3. After being suspended from practicing, depending on the nature and extent of professional and technical errors, the practitioner must update his/her medical knowledge according to the conclusion of the Professional Council specified in Article 101 of this Law.

4. The Government shall regulate this Article in detail".

Accordingly, doctors will be suspended from practicing in one of the following cases:

- Being determined by the Professional Council to have professional and technical errors to the extent of having to suspend practice but not to the extent of having the practice license revoked;

- Concluded by a competent authority that there is a violation of professional ethics but not to the extent of having to revoke the practice license;

- Not healthy enough to practice.
