What is a Nursing License?
A practice license is a type of license to practice medicine, issued by a competent authority to a person who is qualified to practice according to the provisions of law.
According to the provisions of Clause 1, Article 26 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment No. 15/2023/QH15, nursing is a professional title that must have a practice license to practice in this field.
Conditions for Nursing Practice License in 2024
According to the provisions of Clause 1 and Clause 2, Article 24 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2023, to be granted a nursing practice license, one must take the examination to assess the capacity to practice medical examination and treatment. To be eligible to take the examination to assess the capacity to grant a nursing practice license, one must meet the following conditions:
– Have a degree appropriate for the nursing position.
– Completed the medical examination and treatment practice process according to the provisions of Article 23 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2023, specifically according to the following principles:
+ Consistent with the professional degree that the practitioner is awarded.
+ Performed at a medical examination and treatment facility with a scope of professional activities appropriate to the practice content of the person wishing to obtain a nursing practice license.
+ Have practice time appropriate to the nursing position.
According to Decree 96/2023/ND-CP detailing a number of articles of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, the practice period for medical examination and treatment for the positions of nurse, midwife, and medical technician is 06 months, of which the practice period for medical examination and treatment is 05 months; the practice period for medical examination and treatment in emergency resuscitation is 01 month.
+ The facility guiding the practice must assign a practice instructor and at the same time must register the list of people participating in the practice at the facility in the Medical Examination and Treatment Management Information System and issue a certificate of practice to the participants during the practice at the facility.
+ The instructors of the practice must be practitioners whose scope is appropriate to the content of the practice instruction, and must also be responsible for the professional activities of the practitioners during the practice they are assigned to instruct, except in cases where the practitioners intentionally violate legal regulations;
+ Practitioners at medical examination and treatment facilities must comply with the assignment and instructions of the practice instructor, especially respecting the rights and obligations of patients.
