Obligations of consumers and principles of protecting consumer rights according to law
Consumers in Vietnam not only have rights but also certain duties to ensure fairness and safety in transactions. Vietnamese law clearly outlines the duties of consumers along with the principles for protecting their rights. According to the provisions of Article 5 and Article 6 of the Law on Consumer Protection, it is stipulated as follows:
1. Consumer obligations

- Consumption does not violate the law, does not go against good customs and social ethics, does not violate national interests, public interests, does not cause harm to life, health, or property. own property and that of others.
- Comply with conditions and instructions for transportation, storage and use of products, goods and services; regulations on inspection, environmental protection, and sustainable consumption according to the provisions of law.
- Provide timely and accurate information to relevant state agencies, organizations and individuals when detecting products, goods and services circulating on the market that do not ensure safety, cause damage or threaten to cause harm. damage to the life, health, honor, dignity, reputation, and property of consumers; acts of business organizations and individuals that violate the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
- Be responsible for providing inaccurate or incomplete information related to transactions between consumers and business organizations and individuals according to the provisions of law.
- Other obligations as prescribed by law.
2. Principles of protecting consumer rights (Article 6)
- Protecting consumer rights is the responsibility of the State, organizations, individuals and the entire society.
- The legitimate rights and interests of consumers are recognized, respected, guaranteed and protected according to the provisions of law.
- Protecting consumer rights must be proactively implemented in a timely, fair, transparent and lawful manner.
- Activities to protect consumer rights must not violate the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of business organizations and individuals and other organizations and individuals.
- Ensuring fairness, equality, no gender discrimination, voluntary, not violating the law, not contrary to good customs and social ethics in transactions between consumers and business organizations and individuals .
