According to the provisions of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2023, professional titles that must have a license to practice medical examination and treatment include:
- Doctor;
- Doctor;
- Nursing;
- Midwife;
- Medical engineering;
- Clinical nutrition;
- Outpatient emergency medical staff;
- Clinical psychology;
- Physician;
- People with traditional medicine or traditional treatment methods.
(i) Conditions for granting new practice licenses for the positions of doctor, physician, nurse, midwife, medical technician, clinical nutritionist, outpatient paramedic and clinical psychologist include:
- Assessed to have sufficient professional capacity through the medical examination and treatment capacity assessment test as prescribed in Article 24 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2023 or have a recognized practice license as prescribed in Article 29 of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment 2023;
- Be healthy enough to practice;
- Meet Vietnamese language proficiency requirements for foreigners as prescribed by the Government;
- Not falling into one of the cases of being banned from practicing medicine as mentioned above or being administratively sanctioned for the act of practicing medicine without a practice license but the license has not expired is considered not to have been administratively sanctioned.
(ii) Conditions for granting new practice licenses for traditional medicine practitioners, people with traditional medicine prescriptions or traditional treatment methods include:
- Have a certificate of traditional medicine practitioner or a certificate of a person with a traditional medicine prescription or a certificate of a person with a traditional treatment method;
- Meet the following conditions:
+ Be healthy enough to practice;
+ Meet Vietnamese language proficiency requirements for foreigners according to Government regulations;
+ Not falling into one of the cases of being banned from practicing medicine as mentioned above or being administratively sanctioned for the act of practicing medicine without a practice license but the license has not expired is considered not to have been administratively sanctioned.
