A medical practice certificate is understood as a mandatory document that any individual working in the field of medical examination and treatment in Vietnam must have. Because a medical practice certificate is a recognition of the individual's professional qualifications and abilities in the process of efforts and dedication to the career of saving people of doctors.

1. Conditions for applying for a medical practice certificate

1.1. Conditions for applying for a medical practice certificate

Have a document confirming the practice process, except in the case of a traditional physician, a person with a traditional medicine prescription or a traditional treatment method.

To be granted a certificate to practice medicine, a doctor must have 18 months of practice at a hospital or research institute with beds.
To be granted a medical practice certificate, one must practice for 12 months in a hospital.

Have a certificate of good health to practice medicine.

Not being in the case of being banned from practicing or doing work related to medical and pharmaceutical expertise according to a court verdict or decision; being prosecuted for criminal liability; being subject to disciplinary action from a warning or higher related to medical examination and treatment expertise; losing or having limited civil act capacity...

1.2. Conditions for re-issuance of medical practice certificate

In case doctors need to re-apply for a medical practice certificate for some reason, the re-apply conditions include all the requirements in section 1.1 of this article.

In addition, doctors also need to provide a "Certificate of continuous medical knowledge update" when applying for a re-issuance of a medical practice certificate.

2. Application for medical practice certificate

Application for a medical practice certificate according to Form 01 Appendix I issued with Decree No. 109/2016/ND-CP.
A valid copy of the professional degree appropriate to the scope of professional activities for which a practice certificate is requested. Specifically, for practicing medicine, the following documents are required:
Medical degree;
Certificate of traditional medicine practitioner or certificate of person with traditional medicine prescription or person with traditional treatment method issued by the Minister of Health or Director of the Department of Health.
Certificate of practice process according to Form 02 Appendix I issued with Decree No. 109/2016/ND-CP or valid copies of graduation certificates of resident physician, specialist I, specialist II, except for the case of traditional medicine practitioner, person with traditional medicine prescription or person with traditional treatment method.
Certificate of good health issued by a medical examination and treatment facility specified in Clause 6, Article 23 and Clause 5, Article 25 of Decree No. 109/2016/ND-CP.
Criminal record
CV according to Form 03 Appendix I Decree 109/2016/ND-CP with confirmation from the head of the working unit or confirmation from the People's Committee of the commune, ward or town where the applicant permanently resides.
