Vaccination stimulates immune responses within the body to actively produce antibodies against pathogens. Antibodies obtained from vaccines help the body prevent diseases, complications, sequelae, disability and death, especially for diseases that do not have specific drugs and treatments.

1. General information
Up to now, Vietnam's expanded immunization program is providing 12 types of vaccines, including:
- Tuberculosis vaccine for infants (BCG)
- Hepatitis B vaccine birth dose
- SII vaccine (5 in 1 vaccine)
- Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV)
- Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV)
- Molecularly Proven Vaccine (MVac)
- Measles-rubella vaccine (MRVac)
- Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DPT) booster vaccine
- Japanese encephalitis vaccine (Jevax)
- Cholera vaccine
- Typhoid vaccine
- Tetanus vaccine
2. What vaccines are needed outside the expanded program?
The Expanded Program on Immunization, with the Government's humanitarian policy, has helped all Vietnamese children receive many important vaccines for free. However, these vaccines mainly focus on the first months of a child's life and basic disease prevention, and the fixed vaccination schedule of the Expanded Program on Immunization makes it difficult for many families to get their children vaccinated, which results in many children not being fully vaccinated.
In addition to the 12 vaccines included in the expanded immunization program, there are still more than 40 vaccines to prevent nearly 50 dangerous infectious diseases available at service vaccination centers such as the VNVC Children and Adult Vaccination Center System that children need to be fully vaccinated to protect their health, ensuring the foundation for both physical and mental development:
