What documents are required in the adoption dossier in Vietnam?

Based on Article 31 of the 2010 Law on Adoption, the dossier of adoptive parents specifies:
1. The dossier of Vietnamese residing abroad, foreigners residing abroad adopting Vietnamese children must have the following documents:
a) Application for adoption;
b) Copy of Passport or equivalent document;
c) Document permitting adoption in Vietnam;
d) Psychological and family investigation report;
e) Health status confirmation document;
g) Criminal record check certificate;
h) Marriage status confirmation document;
i) Documents proving eligibility as specified in Clause 2 of Article 28 of this Law.
2. The documents specified in points b, c, d, e, g, and h of Clause 1 of this Article shall be established, issued, or confirmed by the competent authority of the country where the adoptive parent resides.
3. The dossier of adoptive parents shall be prepared in 2 sets and submitted to the Ministry of Justice through the central authority for adoption of the country where the adoptive parent resides; in case of a designated adoption as specified in Clause 2 of Article 28 of this Law, the adoptive parent may submit the dossier directly to the Ministry of Justice.
Therefore, the adoption dossier includes the following documents:
- Application for adoption;
- Copy of Passport or equivalent document;
- Document permitting adoption in Vietnam;
- Psychological and family investigation report;
- Health status confirmation document;
- Document confirming income and assets;
- Criminal record check certificate;
- Marriage status confirmation document;
- Documents proving eligibility as specified and must be established, issued, or confirmed by the competent authority of the country where the adoptive parent resides.
+ Stepfather, stepmother of the adoptee;
+ Aunt, uncle, cousin, biological relative of the adoptee;
+ Adoptive sibling of the adopted child;
+ Adopting children with disabilities, HIV/AIDS, or other serious illnesses;
+ Foreigners working, studying in Vietnam for at least 01 year.
