Discover the sacredness and rich history of Thien Mu Pagoda, a work that preserves the beauty of the ancient capital of Hue.
Thien Mu Pagoda, also known as Linh Mu Pagoda, is recognized as a national monument of architectural art. The pagoda is located on Ha Khue hill, on the northern bank of the poetic Huong River, about 5km from the center of Hue city.
Thien Mu Pagoda in Hue is not only a famous pagoda architecture but also carries within it a fascinating historical story. Lord Nguyen Hoang considered the terrain and built it in 1601, the pagoda has undergone 8 restorations to date but still retains its natural beauty and majesty. In particular, the legendary story of an old woman wearing a red shirt and blue pants predicting the appearance of the pagoda also adds to the interest of this place.
Thien Mu Pagoda is not only a historical witness but also possesses many unique architectural works and is imbued with the culture of the Ancient Capital.
Tam Quan Gate is the main entrance to Thien Mu Pagoda, with 2 floors, 8 roofs and 3 paths, symbolizing the 3 worlds of Humans - Ghosts - Gods. The gate has a solid design with red painted wooden doors and majestic guardian statues.
Phuoc Duyen Tower is a must-see with its architecture imbued with Hue culture. The tower is 21 meters high, has 7 floors and each floor has a Buddha statue, creating a solemn and beautiful scene.
The main hall of Dai Hung has a majestic architecture, built entirely of solid cement. This is the place to worship Maitreya Buddha and preserves exquisite sculptures such as large characters and bronze bells shaped like the sun and the moon.
A notable place in the temple grounds is the tomb of the late monk Thich Don Hau. This monk contributed greatly to the history of the development of Vietnamese Buddhism and received the respect of many people.
Located behind Dai Hung Temple, Dia Tang Temple gives visitors a sense of serenity with a large green yard and a clear lake.
For the best experience when visiting Thien Mu Pagoda, visitors should go in January and February, which is the Lunar New Year. During this time, the weather in Hue is pleasant, very suitable for pilgrimage and sightseeing activities.
