Thai Vi Temple is a sacred place of worship for the Tran Dynasty in Ninh Binh. The retired emperor Tran Thai Tong - the first king of the Tran Dynasty, when he left home to become a monk, built the temple in 1273. After nearly 1,000 years, this place still retains its majesty and splendor for sightseeing and worship.

According to historical records, the first Thai Vi temple was built after the first victory in the resistance war against the Yuan-Mongol army. King Tran Thai Tong abdicated the throne to his son, then retreated to this mountainous area to establish Thai Vi hermitage to practice asceticism. Later, the Tran kings also became monks here.
Thai Vi Temple still preserves many valuable historical and cultural relics. One of the two horses made of monolithic green stone is still intact, demonstrating the high artistic value of the ancients when building the temple. The bell tower is made of ironwood, the roofs are covered with fish-tail tiles. In the tower hangs a bronze bell cast in the 19th year of Chinh Hoa. Thai Vi Temple is located on a rare land, in front of Ngoc Well, behind Cam Mountain. At the temple's gate, it is clearly written: Tens of thousands of years later, the castle is still a standard place for sightseeing. On the left of the temple is Ngo River, on the right is Coi Linh Mountain. Thousands of years later, the citadel is still magnificent for worship.
Recently, Thai Vi Temple has been restored, the temple still retains many of its original values, adding to the solemnity of the sacred place of worship of the Tran Dynasty. Every year, from the 14th to the 17th of the third lunar month, local people hold the Thai Vi Temple festival to commemorate the great contributions of the Tran Dynasty. Thai Vi Temple is now also a sacred spiritual destination for many visitors from all over the world.
