Temples
The Ma River is majestic in the upstream but becomes calm and peaceful in the downstream. And, before reaching the sea, the river has time to "split" to create a three-way river junction with majestic mountains and waters, where the spiritual energy of heaven and earth converges for thousands of years, imbued with legends, folklore and immense human affection.
Coming to Bong junction - the land of Thanh Ke Ngu Huyen, do not rush to enter the "cua co" but immerse yourself in the natural scenery here, facing the immense, lonely river junction to find moments of peace and quiet. The scent of agarwood in the wind mixed with the sound of bells, wooden fish, and Chau Van singing seems to inlay the strokes of time into the picture of this river junction.
In Vietnamese folk beliefs, Co Bo Thoai is worshiped in many places throughout the country, but the Ba Bong temple worshiping Co Bo in Ha Son commune, Ha Trung district is the main place where the Saint originated. Co Bo Thoai is described as a person of both talent and beauty: "No matter where you go/ The river has as much water as you love people/ Remembering the old stories of the Le dynasty/ There is Co Bo Thoai, beautiful and fresh". There are many legends about Co Bo Bong in folklore.
Ba Bong Temple worshiping Co Bo Thoai is located right on the left bank next to the river junction in Ha Trung, Thanh Hoa province. It is a famous place that attracts tourists to offer incense, sightsee, and enjoy the bronze statues. This is also one of the religious activities of the Vietnamese people worshiping the Mother Goddess of the Three Palaces.
Existing with history, experiencing the destruction of harsh climate and war, Ba Bong Temple worshiping Co Bo Thoai has also gone through many storms and no longer retains its former appearance, but the sacredness of the Saint still remains in the world. In recent years, with the attention of the people and local authorities, the temple has been renovated and embellished, contributing to preserving traditional values while meeting the spiritual needs of people. In 1992, Ba Bong Temple worshiping Co Bo Thoai was recognized as a provincial historical relic.
Folklore has it that Co Bo Thoai is very sacred, if anyone encounters hardship, they just need to pray and ask for her protection and help. That is why visitors from all over the world come to her temple to offer gifts and incense, hoping that she will bless them with good health and success in all their endeavours. In the past, trade and travel were mainly by water, so when boats crossed the river, no one did not stop at Ba Bong Temple to respectfully offer incense and pray to Co Bo Thoai to help them row steadily and sail smoothly. Today, although river transport no longer plays a major role in people's lives, the captivating beauty and sacredness of Ba Bong Temple relic still attracts visitors from near and far.
Looking out from Ba Bong Temple to the river wharf, the scenery still retains its original beauty, luring people back to their own emotions. On the first day of the year, making a pilgrimage to Ba Bong, visitors will have moments to temporarily forget the hustle and bustle, the worries of daily life to focus their minds on peace and tranquility.
