Discovering Mat Than Mountain - Journey to Vietnam's unique mountain
Mat Than Mountain - a mysterious and magical mountain, located in Ban Danh valley, Quoc Toan commune, Tra Linh district, Cao Bang province, Vietnam, is attracting a lot of attention from the travel community. The reason the mountain has such a unique name is because of its unique shape. Mat Than Mountain is also known as "Nui Thung" because on the top of the mountain there is a round hole like the "eye" of the mountain, with a diameter of up to 50m. This is also considered one of the unique mountains in Vietnam.
Mat Than Mountain is located in the valley of Thang Hen Lake, part of Cao Bang Non Nuoc Geopark - an area with attractive scenery with vast grasslands, grasslands and cool blue lakes.
According to the local people here, the God's Eye mountain has a local name "Phja Piót", which means a mountain with holes through it, allowing wind to pass from one side to the other.
Leading experts from the Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) and leading international experts from the Global Geoparks Network have confirmed that "Mat Than Mountain" is actually a circular cave with a diameter of more than 50m, located at an altitude of about 50m above the lake surface (Thang Hen).
