Cua Tu Stream is located in Hoang Nong Commune, Dai Tu District, about 45 km from the center of Thai Nguyen City, Vietnam. This stream flows on the eastern slope of Tam Dao Range, originating from high mountains, passing through Hoang Nong Commune and merging into Cong River. Hidden in the forest, Cua Tu Stream passes through cliffs and forms 7 levels of waterfalls, some of which have cool, clear lakes.
With its wild beauty and fresh air, this area attracts many tourists by trekking through the mountainous terrain and cliffs. This is an ideal destination for the summer, when visitors can enjoy the cool space and explore the beautiful natural landscape.
Nguyen Van Tung, a local guide and homestay owner, shared that there are a total of 7 waterfalls in the area, but the first 4 are the most beautiful and offer the most exciting games. The total distance that visitors have to go and return is about 10 km, very suitable for nature lovers and sports activities. Visitors with less walking ability can choose to go to the first waterfall only.
The starting point for the trekking trip is Dong Khuan village, Hoang Nong commune. The stream area does not require an entrance ticket and there are many trails in the forest. To avoid getting lost, visitors can use the service of Hoang Nong Farm for 1.5 million VND/person. This price includes a night at a homestay on the edge of the forest, a guide from a local and lunch in the forest.
After about 1.5 km of walking, visitors will reach the stream area, where the water flows for about 30 km between the towering cliffs. Here, visitors can participate in rowing on the water to enjoy the scenery or swimming. At the end of the stream is a cool cave from the steam, and when going deeper, visitors will reach Waterfall 1.
Not far from there, visitors will reach the second waterfall, where water from the peak flows into a beautiful turquoise lake. The cliff is about 10 meters above the lake, creating a suitable jumping point for adventurous visitors. When participating in this game, visitors need to ensure safety by wearing a life jacket and following the instructions of the local guide.
Continuing from there about a kilometer, visitors will reach Waterfall 3. Here, there is a natural rock slide created by the fast-flowing stream. The slide surface is very smooth, sliding straight down to a deep lake below. This game is suitable for both men and women and is less adventurous. At Waterfall 3, visitors can stop to enjoy lunch on the large rocks, with sticky rice and roasted chicken.
After a short break and walking through the cliffs, visitors finally arrive at the final destination of the journey - waterfall number 4. This is where the largest lake is located and is very suitable for swimming. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful space and take memorable photos.
At the end of the picnic day, and filled with joy and fatigue, visitors return to rest in the houses among the tea hills. This is where visitors can meet the locals working in the cooperative, who are responsible for cooking and managing the rooms... According to many visitors, they are gentle and open-minded people. The last meal of the day is prepared from local rustic dishes such as stir-fried pork belly with river prawns, braised fish, stir-fried bamboo shoots with garlic, and rau bo khai... These are delicious and rich dishes, completely satisfying visitors' hungry stomachs. In addition, visitors can also experience fruit drinks.
Sharing about his journey at Cua Tu stream, tourist Trinh Thao from Thai Nguyen said that it was a memorable experience, although the group had to climb the mountain for half a day. The forest and stream here are wild and beautiful, no less wonderful than tourist destinations in the West. During the trip, the group participated in all kinds of slide games and waterfall jumping, bringing a feeling of excitement and refreshment. The best time to visit Cua Tu stream is from May to October, however, visitors should avoid rainy days due to the risk of flooding at the waterfall. Visitors should wear neat clothes and sneakers, and should also prepare swimsuits and dry clothes to change after bathing. In addition, applying sunscreen and using insect repellent spray are also recommended.
