Song Ray Lake tourist area is a beautiful place in Ba Ria - Vung Tau that many tourists choose to refresh their trip. Coming here, you have the opportunity to explore the sea, mountains and forests, and enjoy entertainment and relaxation.

Let's explore the charming beauty of Song Ray Lake, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Vietnam with iguide.ai!

Formed by a dam blocking the Ray River, the artificial reservoir of the Ray River (built in 2005, completed in 2011) is 2,503 hectares wide and is located in the territory of two provinces: Dong Nai (Cam My district) and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (Chau Duc and Xuyen Moc districts). Because the land along the lake and the mounds and dunes in the lake bed have a very soft structure, the water recedes to where the waves erode, creating parallel lines like evenly stacked steps, looking very spectacular.

In the dry season, the water level in the lake drops by almost half, in many places the water dries up to reveal reddish-brown “islands” with strange and surprising shapes and lines. Walking on the land that used to lie under the lake, everyone is surprised to see countless mussel shells lying in the sun. Every step you take, you touch the mussels.

Dead mussels cling to rocks, tree roots or lie scattered like carpets on the shore and lake bed. And in places where there is still water, a whole “world” of mussels is still thriving, making Song Ray Lake special - a place considered an ideal “settlement” for mussels with high density and large reserves.

The mussel season in Song Ray Lake lasts from December until the beginning of the rainy season every year. For many years, mussel exploitation has brought good income to many local people. Song Ray Lake mussels have become a famous specialty in the region, loved by many people.

Song Ray Lake is located about 37km northeast of Ba Ria City. From Ba Ria City, follow Highway 56 to the roundabout of Ngai Giao town (Chau Duc district), turn right onto Le Hong Phong street, then go straight on Ngai Giao - Hoa Binh street.

When you reach Xuan Son commune (near Hoa Binh commune, Xuyen Moc district), turn left onto Team 11 road for about 1km to reach Song Ray lake dam. From here, you can take a tour to explore the southwest of the lake.

To explore the northeast of Song Ray Lake (Xuyen Moc district), return to the old road Ngai Giao - Hoa Binh, continue to Hoa Binh intersection and turn left onto provincial road 328. On this road, in the Hoa Hung market area, there are many crossroads that can turn into the lake.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau is a coastal city in the tropical monsoon region, with weather directly influenced by the ocean, so it is always cool all year round. Ba Ria - Vung Tau will have 2 distinct seasons in the year: the rainy season lasts from May to October with the Southwest monsoon and the dry season from November to April of the following year with the Northeast monsoon.

The most unique feature of Ba Ria - Vung Tau is that it is located in the area with the least storms in Vietnam. The rainy season in Vung Tau only rains by the hour, not the continuous rain like in the northern provinces. Each season in Vung Tau has its own amazing beauty because of the natural scenery and spiritual culture along with traditional cultural festivals that have been preserved and passed down through many generations.
