Located on Hon Gom peninsula, Van Phong Bay, Van Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Mui Doi is about 100km from Nha Trang city, taking about 2.5 hours to travel.

To reach Mui Doi, you will have to trek nearly 20km, crossing deserts, hills and cliffs. The itinerary usually lasts 2 days and 1 night, starting from Dam Mon market, which is the best choice to complete the conquest of Mui Doi. On this trekking journey, you will admire the wonderful beauty of Van Phong Bay, especially Bai Na, Bai Mieu with clear blue sea water, and Bai Rang, an ideal place for snorkeling or camping to wait for the sunrise.

Reaching Mui Doi – the Easternmost point of Vietnam is a wonderful experience that those who love to conquer Vietnam always crave. When touching the last strip of land jutting into the sea of Vietnam, it will bring an indescribable pride, from excitement to endless happiness.

The right time to conquer the easternmost tip of Mui Doi

The ideal time to conquer the easternmost tip of Mui Doi is from December to early May. During this time, the weather is usually cool and suitable for trekking activities.

From mid-May to August is summer, when temperatures can reach 39 degrees Celsius. Although it is possible to conquer Mui Doi during this period, you need to prepare full protection from the sun and heat.

From mid-August to November is the peak period of storms in the Central region, so trekking during this time will be difficult. To avoid unstable and dangerous weather conditions, you should limit your trips during this period.

Is trekking through the sand desert difficult?

As for trekking through the sand desert, it is really demanding. The sand desert terrain can be difficult to navigate and requires careful preparation. Having a good map, protective gear and adequate drinking water are essential to ensure safety when trekking through the sand desert.

In short, choosing the right time and being well prepared are important to successfully conquer the easternmost tip of Mui Doi and overcome the harsh terrain of the sand desert.

The journey across the desert to Mui Doi – the Easternmost point of Vietnam is about 4.5km and takes nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes of slow travel. This route requires a lot of energy because of 3 steep uphill sections, quicksand and hot climate. However, the sand desert brings great beauty with winding roads and dry grass landscapes.

This is the easiest part of the journey to start with, and along the way you will find plenty of shady spots to rest and regain your strength. This part of the desert is easy to navigate, just follow the wheel tracks to make sure you don’t get lost in the desert.

To walk on the sand desert without getting too tired, walk slowly, breathe deeply and always breathe through your nose, avoid breathing through your mouth. When drinking water, drink small amounts but not too much.

Na beach is as clear as jade

Bai Na is a beautiful beach located on Ninh Van Bay, after passing through the desert sand road. This is a destination that Off-Road lovers often choose to experience and camp. Bai Na is about 3km long, with long white sand and clear blue sea. You can stop here to rest, have lunch and swim. If you come here to camp, you can also bring fishing equipment. However, walking on the fine sand of Bai Na can be tiring, so you should stay close to the shore to minimize fatigue.

Crystal clear Bai Mieu hidden in the green forest

From Bai Na, you will move up the forest trail, taking about 2 to 3 hours to reach Bai Mieu. Bai Mieu is the second stop on the journey to conquer the easternmost point of Mui Doi in Vietnam. This place has two temples and creates a beautiful sea space with green forests, dense coral reefs and undulating cliffs. The sea at Bai Mieu is always clear with a deep blue color. If you go through the forest to Mui Doi without stopping at Bai Mieu to admire and take pictures, you will miss an unfortunate experience on your trip.

Trekking through the mountain peaks to Bai Rang

From Bai Mieu, you can choose to follow the coastal route by jumping over rocks or move inward to continue to the top of the mountain and reach Bai Rang. The travel time from Bai Mieu to Bai Rang is about 1.5-2 hours in the forest. When moving, pay attention to turn right following the bottles stuck in the trees along the road. If you have experience moving in the forest, you can use Alltrails navigation to move faster. Bai Rang is a resting stop for all trekking groups to Mui Doi. Here, there is a beautiful, flat, wind-sheltered sandy beach suitable for swimming. The sea here is clear and you can see the coral underwater. However, if you do not have diving experience, you should not dive into deep water holes.

At Bai Rang, there is a water stall that offers drinks such as mineral water and soft drinks, but the prices are more expensive than usual. If you want to take a shower, you can also buy soft drinks there. However, you will have to go to the restroom area to get a water supply because there is no water for bathing on the sand. At Bai Rang, you can also enjoy local dishes and buy small souvenirs.

From Bai Rang to the tip of Mui Doi

After resting at Bai Rang, you can continue your journey to Mui Doi. To get to Mui Doi, you will have to go through a forest trail for about 1-2 hours. Here, you will admire the beautiful scenery of the sea and two parallel sand beaches lying next to each other. This is the final destination of the journey and where you can enjoy the quiet space, watch the sunset and enjoy the cool sea.

If you want to participate in other activities at Mui Doi, you can go diving, fishing or rent a boat to enjoy the deep blue sea. At the same time, you can also participate in other trekking activities in the area such as walking on the coastal trails or exploring the mountains and forests.

In conclusion, the journey from Bai Na to Mui Doi is an exciting and fulfilling adventure. You will be exposed to wild nature, enjoy the beautiful seascape and experience exciting outdoor activities. Make sure to prepare all necessary personal belongings, drinking water and food before starting the journey and always follow the safety rules while traveling in nature.

Over the rapids

Crossing the rapids is an adventurous challenge in the trekking trip to Mui Doi - the Easternmost point of Vietnam. Our group decided to try jumping over the rapids to return, following the rocky path and the forest paths beside it. In just one hour, we could move back to Bai Mieu, shortening the distance compared to going through the forest path. However, this requires a lot of energy and consumes a lot of water.

From Bai Mieu, our group decided to go back to Bai Na via the forest road, the travel time was the same as the first time, about 2-3 hours.

When moving through the rapids, we need to be careful, move slowly, do not jump too far and avoid hasty actions. We always pay close attention to observe before moving and choose the right rock to step on. Choosing the experience of jumping over the rapids must be based on each person's physical strength to ensure safety and success in the journey.
