The Hung Yen Mother Temple is not only a spiritual destination but also an architectural masterpiece. The temple's main gate is an outstanding example with its unique two-story, eight-roofed architecture and attractive arched doors. The main door and two side doors demonstrate creativity in design with the large characters "Duong Thien Hau - Tong Trieu" made of blue ceramic, typical of Nguyen Dynasty architecture. The Chinese characters "Thien Ha Mau Nghi" reflect the importance of this temple.
Stepping through the gate, you will immediately feel the peaceful and sacred space of the Mau Temple. With the spreading incense smoke, the chirping of birds and the peaceful scenery, the Mau Temple is a place where the Buddha realm and the Holy Land converge. The special highlight is the three ancient trees - the banyan tree, the green tree and the ficus tree - growing on top of each other to form a solid "tripod" image, symbolizing the protection of the people by the Holy Mother. The special thing is that among the three great trees, there is an extremely rare tree that is up to 800 years old.
Next is the front hall of the temple with 3 compartments, 2 floors and 8 roofs curved softly in the style of dragons. On the roof are dragon scale tiles and two dragons facing the moon - a symbol of pure Vietnamese architecture. The Luu Ly Palace and the Quang Han Palace are auxiliary spaces supporting the main worship, each with its own beauty and meaning. The special feature in the front hall is the golden epitaph written by Dr. Chu Manh Trinh from 1896, praising the beauty of the temple and the virginity of the Holy Mother. The Dragon and Phoenix palanquins in the central hall with sophisticated sculptures are proof of the perfection in art during the Later Le period.
The temple's sanctuary is home to the statues of Concubine Duong Quy Phi and her two servants Kim Thi and Lieu Thi, all painted in red and gilded from the 17th-18th century. In that space, under the dim light and incense smoke, you will feel the tranquility and sacredness. In addition, the temple also has many other valuable artifacts such as the eight-cong palanquin, seven-cong palanquin, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, dragon pavilions, dragon beds, dragon dai... dating from the 18th-19th century and 15 royal decrees from the Le to Nguyen dynasties.
